SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) DECEMBER 21, 2017 – Corrections technology leader Telmate, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GTL, today announced the sixth year of “Deck the Halls with Calls,” a yearly event where the corrections company will provide nearly one million minutes of free phone calls to incarcerated men and women so they can connect with loved ones during the holiday season.
Beginning December 22, inmates in Telmate-powered facilities will receive two, 15-minute free phone calls they can use any time until December, 31st.
“Connecting with family around the holidays means a great deal for all of us,” said Kelly O’Neill, Director of Account Management for Telmate. “We know this time of year can be particularly difficult for families separated from their incarcerated loved ones, so hopefully this free communication time brings people together and makes the holiday season a bit easier.”
Studies show that inmates with frequent, positive connections to the outside world are more likely to refrain from conduct that would cause them to jeopardize early release. Also, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, inmates who maintain strong relationships with friends and family, greatly reduce their risk of recidivism.
In the past six years, Telmate has provided free phone calls through various promotions (during holidays or natural disasters) to incarcerated men and women in all the corrections facilities it services across the United States.
