NOVEMBER 8, 2016 FRANKFORT, KY –  As part of its Telmate Cares community outreach program, the San Francisco-based corrections company Telmate delivered an undisclosed amount to the Giving for Goins trust account, to support the 12-year-old son of a local law enforcement member who is courageously battling bone cancer.

Telmate representative and former Kentucky law enforcement officer, Chuck Geveden, delivered the donation to Joseph and his family last Saturday, October, 29th, during the Giving for Goins fundraiser. The event was hosted by the Franklin County Jail, where the football-loving boy’s father, Deputy James Goins, works as deputy jailer.

In July, the Goins family was about to embark on a family vacation when Joseph began having severe pain in his leg. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma Bone Cancer in his femur. After several months of fighting the disease, Joseph recently underwent a 14-hour-surgery to replace his cancerous femur with his fibula bone.

Joseph’s father is a single parent of five who continues to work as often as possible to provide for his family and maintain his son’s health insurance. “Deputy Goins’ ability to step up to the plate during this difficult time is admirable,” said Geveden. “We hope this donation helps boost overall morale and will help offset some of their expenses as Joseph recovers.”

Anyone interested in supporting Joseph’s cause can make a donation at the Frankfort Whitaker Bank located at 130 West Main Street, Frankfort, KY 40601. The Franklin County Jail has also offered to deliver donations to the trust account, which can be mailed to P.O. Box 4068, Frankfort, KY 40604, Attn: Major Hensley. Checks should be payable to the Giving for Goins trust account.
