Inmate-on-phone_waving_HiPass_TelmateLogoSAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) December 15, 2014 – San Francisco-based tech company Telmate is donating over a million minutes of phone calls this year with its “Deck the Halls with Calls” program. The seasonal event gives inmates the opportunity to connect with their loved ones during the holiday season.

“We know the holiday season can be difficult for families separated from their incarcerated loved ones,” said Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Hansen, “so we wanted to do something just to make it a little easier for people to connect during the holidays.”

Studies show that inmates who are better adjusted to the prison environment and connected to the outside world are more likely to refrain from conduct that would cause them to jeopardize early release. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, inmates who maintain strong relationships with friends and family, greatly reduce their risk of recidivism.

In the past three years, Telmate has donated a total of 3.6 million minutes to incarcerated men and women in over 300 corrections facilities.
