The new patent known as “Residence-Based Calling Rates, System and Method” (U.S. Patent No. 8,811,582) is the first of its kind, according to Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Hansen. “The new system will enhance the accuracy of inmate call charges” Hansen says, “rates will be based on more than just a caller’s area code.”

The new patent will be based on two main methods: the destination number and the best-known address of the called party. Once both rates are determined, one of the rates is selected for call rating.
