SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) December 23, 2015 – Telmate today announced the fourth year of “Deck the Halls with Calls,” a yearly event where the corrections leader donates over one million minutes of communications time, including phone calls, messages and photo sharing to incarcerated men and women so they can connect with loved ones during the holiday season.
Beginning December 22, inmates in Telmate-powered facilities will receive two 15-minute free phone calls which they can use anytime until the end of the year. Where available, inmates will also get discounted rates on tablet minutes, and free messaging and photo sharing, as permitted by their facility.
“For all of us, connecting with family around the holidays means a great deal,” said Chief Marketing Officer, Jeff Hansen. “We know this time of year can be difficult for families separated from their incarcerated loved ones, so hopefully this donated communication time brings people together and makes the holiday season a little easier.”
Telmate Tablets are just one of the many communication, education and entertainment innovations provided by Telmate that help inmates stay in touch with people and positive resources in the outside world. With these tablets, not only do inmates have an additional way to connect, tablets also benefit inmate well-being by turning idle, stressful time into constructive time, and by giving inmates access to needed tools such as paperless grievances, requests, crime tips and PREA reports.
Studies show that inmates with frequent, positive connections to the outside world are more likely to refrain from conduct that would cause them to jeopardize early release. Also, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, inmates who maintain strong relationships with friends and family, greatly reduce their risk of recidivism.
In the past four years, Telmate has donated over 4 million minutes to incarcerated men and women in over 300 corrections facilities across the United States and Canada.
